House Hunting

There are tons of houses available on craigslist, but I'm having a hard time getting anyone to write me back. I've sent out 25 emails and only heard back from 5 people. All the houses here are super cute, but I'm looking for one with roommates and I haven't found anyone I'm interested in living with yet.

Oregon Trail Day 4

Salt Lake City's main library branch.

On the East Coast and in the South, the built environment dominates the skyline. But out here you can't ignore nature. I guess that's why people in the West are so outdoorsy.

Remember that movie where they were running away from "The Nothing"? I think they were talking about Idaho.

Boise seems like a pretty cool town. I rode my bike around for a little bit since I had some extra time.

Oregon Trail Day 3

Mandy and Dave walked me around Fort Collins, Colorado, which is a cool hippie college town. There is a restaurant there called Rasta Pasta.

There is also this bike library where you can check out a bike for free for up to a week.

Cherbs got to take a walk while I re-packed.

Going up mountains while towing a trailer takes a long time.

They have these things all over Wyoming. I think they are snow fences.

I expected the rocky mountains to be a little rockier than this.

Oregon Trail Day 2

Kansas City seems like a nice town. Henry let me stay at his place.

I think the Great Plains are a myth. I drove across Kansas today and all I saw were hills.

Kansas loves sunflowers, but does not like me. Right after I took this picture, I got stopped by a cop for walking down the street taking pictures. I resisted taking a picture of the cop.

This huge storm looked cool from a distance. Then I had to drive through it and it was really scary.

Oregon Trail Day 1

Yeah I was actually driving away at this moment.

The connector for the trailer's wiring got too close to the tailpipe and melted. It still works though.

I had hoped to stop in the cities I'm going through and look around, but my car takes up two parking spaces, so that means I can pretty much only stop in truck stops.

Sunday night at 7 while towing a trailer is not exactly the ideal time to do touristy things, so this is as close as I got to St. Louis.

Next stop: Henry's apartment in Kansas City. I've never looked forward to seeing him so much.

12 Hours of Packing (2pm - 2am)

Some Jehovah's Witnesses woke me up and gave me these things.

Then I got this trailer.

I have so much more stuff than I thought.

The boxes just kept coming.

In retrospect, I should have taken two days to pack and I should have asked people to help me. Luckily, Devin called and asked if I needed help.

In August I will be moving to Portland, Oregon to attend Pacific Northwest College of Art. If all works out, this will lead to an MFA in photography (but technically I am taking some undergrad classes first to catch up).
