Putting together playlists for my Halloween night DJ gig. Any suggestions?
Thanks to Kelli Shay for this one.
Thanks to Q'Doba for this one.
In Oregon, everyone votes by mail. Too bad for all you suckers who live in states where you have to go to a polling place on one specific day and wait in a line.
Classmates lining up to see my installation piece. The project was "personal to private" so I chose the idea that my race, class, and gender makes me feel pretty invisible most of the time. So I set up some typically "white" objects and tried to have them bring out this idea of invisibility. It didn't really work that well, and I pretty much knew that before I even set the thing up. On the gradient of kitschy to avant-garde, I am kitschy. That's bad.
I'm pretty grouchy about it because all the feedback I got I already know: keep it simple, pare down extraneous elements, make sure the message is getting across but don't be too blunt about it. I've been doing that in music for years. Why couldn't I make it work here?
Anyway, the strongest part of it was this video that was playing on a loop on the laptop. I should have just played the video and done away with all the other stuff.
If a restaurant named "Veganopolis" can't make it in Portland, then the terrorists have already won.
Oregon sent me this 155-page pamphlet (1 of 2) outlining all the measures on the ballot that I am going to vote on.
I clicked the wrong button and had my film developing reels sent to Nashville.
I'm developing a certain thing for you...
At least it's only once a week.
I'm getting so sick of still having my stuff in boxes. But I can't unpack until I have someplace to put all my things. So tonight I put together my blue bookshelf. It was last seen being disassembled by Devin. Before that it was seen here, here, here, here, and (in pieces) here. Its twin is probably in a thrift store in Richmond right about now.
What a way to spend a Friday night. Woo!
I'm still not used to being able to know ahead of time exactly how much my total will be.
Somebody thinks they are clever. Ok, I wish I had thought of it first. I have had a similar idea though... Like five years ago I started writing a song that had something in it about "hiding behind windows" or something to mean talking online. I never finished it. You snooze, you lose.
How have I lived without my morning eggo waffles for this long?
