Thesis Proposal

Some people trickling in before I gave my presentation. It went well. I'll be working on a thesis project in the fall.

Practicing for my proposal in the morning

In the morning I will be doing a presentation of my proposal for my thesis project. It will determine whether or not I am able to move on to the final semester of school. I have a clear artistic voice, I'm fine with public speaking, but I don't have a very concrete project idea. One student has already run into trouble for being too vague, so I am not so sure how tomorrow will go.

Working on my thesis presentation

I have a big presentation coming up this week where I lay out my plan for what my thesis project will be in the fall. Of course, I'm still working on it at the last minute.

Jazz Drums

One of my drum students is interested in jazz, so I sort of have to stay one lesson ahead of him. I learned some jazz drumming at one point, but I haven't used any of it in ten years. So here I am trying to work out a pattern so I can show it to him.

I didn't do this, I swear. But it's so simple and so hilarious, why has it taken me 30 years to come across this? I'm going to be embarrassed when I spend these.

Gallery Sitting

This weekend I volunteered to gallery sit at Disjecta, which is currently one of the galleries involved in the Portland 2010 Biennial. As is typical of my Portland experience, I tried to get out and be involved in something that had to do with my interests, with the hope of meeting some like minded people, but I just ended up sitting alone in a huge empty warehouse.

Friend of the birds?

There's this guy in my neighborhood who feeds the birds, but he does it by throwing birdseed all over the street. I can't decide if he's animal-friendly or setting a death trap.

This video got a great critique in class and I am really happy with it as well.

A little Flash thing we had to make

We had a little Flash unit in our video class and the assignment was to make some sort of promotional animation. I had already learned Flash in another class so I didn't take it too seriously. I just put some of my photos in and whatever. The class said it looked like the opening to a sitcom though... so... who's writing the pilot? Get on that!!

Hike Plus Music

Elizabeth put together a hike plus music today, where people go on a hike and stop and have a little show in the woods. It's a good idea with a lot of potential, but unfortunately it was not very well attended.

This was for a video class assignment about documenting things. So I wrote a new song and made a video of the recording process. All in two weeks.

Usually I try to make my assignments be something I would want to make anyway... but not this time, this was done purely to complete the assignment, which was to experiment with editing tricks.

I suffer for my art

Some sort of cut or burn from shooting a video involving me ripping my shirt. Cutting yourself on cotton is a pretty wimpy way to hurt yourself, but my name is Chris Freeman after all.
I'll have videos up as soon... having trouble exporting them from Final Cut.
